When I initially started looking for hunting property, I saw a listing in the Lincoln County Journal by a real estate company in Troy. I stopped in their office and talked with the broker and inquired about the listing and also told him what I was looking for. He told me that he had two agents that specialized in this type of property and he would have one of them contact me. I never heard from his agents.

I decided to drive up north and stopped in real estate offices in Bowling Green, Hannibal and Kirksville. At each stop I spoke with an agent and told them what type of property I was looking for. In each case, I was told they would get back with me with listings to consider. Again, I never heard back from any of them.

However, when I contacted Thornhills, within a few days Dusty Thornhill started emailing me copies of listings for potential hunting properties. Many of them were either more acreage than what I wanted to buy or were not the type of property I was looking for, so I would email back saying they wasn’t what I was looking for. Usually within a week or so Dusty would email me another batch of listings. I’m not sure how many listings he sent that I told him I wasn’t interested in, but, I know it was quite a few. While I’m sure he may have found this discouraging, he didn’t quit sending me listings to consider. After six weeks or so, Dusty sent me a listing for 91 acres up in Chariton County. I drove up, looked at the property and decided that it was exactly what I was looking for. Dusty wrote a contract, scheduled the closing around our schedule and we bought the property. While we may not be in the market for more property at this time, we will contact Thornhill Real Estate and Dusty in particular when we are. If you are in the market for property, call Dusty!
